History, Texts, and Lineages of Yoga Weekend Training

at

Are you curious about yoga and where the practice you love came from? This immersive weekend invites yoga students and teachers of all lineages to explore yoga’s evolution—from its ancient philosophical and spiritual foundations to the diverse practices we experience today. Through lecture, reading and discussion, we’ll examine how yoga has adapted across diverse cultural, political, and spiritual contexts, and consider how understanding its history can enrich the way we practice and teach. Each day will weave together lecture, conversation, philosophy, and embodied practice, giving you the opportunity to experience different traditions and lineages while connecting them to their historical roots. Rather than simply learning dates and names, you’ll explore the ideas, movements, and people that shaped modern yoga—and gain a deeper appreciation for where the practice has been and where it continues to evolve. Come curious and leave with a richer, more nuanced relationship to yoga, its history, and your own place within its living tradition. Open to teachers and students of all levels and lineages. This training is co-led by Sheri Celentano (Director of Education), Vikram Hirani and Ali Cramer, three established and diversely educated teachers with decades of experience. HONOR YOGA'S ROOTS BY EXPLORING ITS EVOLUTION FROM CLASSICAL TO CONTEMPORARY. THIS WEEKEND BLENDS HISTORY, PHILOSOPHY AND PRACTICE. EXPLORE THE ADAPTATION OF YOGA WITHIN CULTURAL, POLITICAL AND SPIRITUAL CONTEXTS. YOU WILL PRACTICE DIFFERENT LINEAGES THAT EMBRACE YOGA'S DEEP HISTORY. EACH DAY WILL INCLUDE PRACTICE AND LECTURE. OPEN TO ALL!
