Cold Cave - Performing "Cremations" in Full

Combining the worlds of darkwave, synth-pop, and post-punk, Cold Cave creates a sound that is both euphoric and haunting. Led by Los Angeles-based author, musician, and poet Wesley Eisold, the influential project has spent nearly two decades shaping the landscape of contemporary dark alternative music. This September, Cold Cave will return to New York for a special performance at First Unitarian Church, presented by LPR, where they will perform their seminal debut release, Cremations, in its entirety for the very first time. Tickets are on sale now. The show is one of only two scheduled full-album performances, alongside a Los Angeles date, making it a unique, standout moment in the project's history. The 2008 album Cremations introduced listeners to Cold Cave's distinctive sound, characterized by electronic rhythms, a shadowy atmosphere, and personal lyricism. The combination established Eisold’s sound within underground music, paving the way to create a catalog that would continue to blend the boundaries between darkness and rhythm. Though Cold Cave has continued to evolve with numerous releases and international tours, Cremations remains a career-defining statement of the band’s early years. Reflecting on the upcoming performances, Eisold shared, "These intimate performances have been deeply meaningful for me to put together and I can’t wait to finally share the live interpretations of this early Cold Cave material for the first time. From the cemetery to the church, it’s gonna be both harsh and beautiful." Presented in the intimate setting of First Unitarian Church on September 19, Cold Cave will offer audiences an opportunity unlike any other to experience the songs that introduced their artistic vision, reimagined for the stage years after their original release.
